Incredible color combinations appear like magic in an oxidizing flame, giving the look of Boro, but in 104 COE. These tested rods are compatible with Moretti and Italian glass. Create dynamic color swirls and subtle color shifts all from a single rod! But don't take our word for it. See what glass artists are saying:
"Whether you are making a total pearlescent bead or just adding touches of mystery to your bead work Double Helix is by far the best soft silver line and is one of my favorite glasses to work with. I get better and better results every time I use this glass! By changing how much you reduce the bead you can get a full range of iridescent colors from all of their colors." Casey Schell, RavensnRain Glass Artist.
This Delphi Exclusive pack includes 7 rods in different colors, each producing their own unique effect. Rods about 12" long, thickness varies from 3-4mm. Rods are individually labeled to allow easy identification. The image above shows an example of the glass fired, and the image below shows the rods unfired. Also shown below are incredible beads by artist Casey Schell created with Double Helix rods.
Technical tip: An oxidizing atmosphere is a flame which is rich in oxygen. The oxidizing portion of a flame is found outside the blue cone of the flame. For more pronounced effects, in a surface mix torch increase the ratio of oxygen to propane slightly to produce a more oxygen rich environment, in a pre-mix torch work further out in the yellow feathery tip of the flame.
