to switch or not to switch 3 stars

Pros : I have been using this head for several years and it has been great. It is easy to use and makes setting the flame very easy.
Cons : It looks like the "flint" is a problem for others - but mine did last for quite a while.
Other Thoughts : I have been wondering if it's time to switch to a different head - this one doesn't seem to get as hot as it used to after several years.

Great beginner torch 5 stars
By Kat B. on April 15, 2010 - See all my reviews
Pros : This is much quieter than the hot head torch and the ability to adjust the oxy content beats the foil system for Hot Head any day. I recommend if you are new to lampworking and want to play with reactive glasses. You won't get the same intense reactions as an oxy torch, but it beats trying to fiddle with foil and make a bead at the same time. We also find it easier to clean than a Hot Head. Been using it for about 5 years and still works great.
Cons : The built in igniter is junk and breaks after a few uses. Not really a drawback since the Hot Head needs to be ignited by hand as well.
Other Thoughts : Great torch at a great price. We think it's perfect for beginners with less problems than the Hot Head. We've had disagreements in our classes about who gets to use the Fireworks torch.

disappointing 1 stars
By spoggle on October 7, 2008 - See all my reviews
Pros : Nice flame, the built-in igniter is VERY handy. The plastic grip makes it easy to deal with when it's hot.
Cons : The igniter is flimsy and fails quickly
Other Thoughts : I really wanted to like this torch, but despite it's nice solid feel, the igniter on the two I ordered failed within three or four sessions.
