This item: Hotline Flame Dri Bead Release by Hotline
A fantastic time saver, Flame-Dri bead release eliminates the need for pre-coating and air drying mandrels. Just dip the mandrel in the prepared Flame-Dri release and hold in the flame for immediate use. 1.85 lbs.
Pros : It works great! It coats the mandrel evenly if mixed well and it performs wonderfully in the flame. It releases the bead afterwards vary easily. It comes in a plastic bag so if any water gets out it will not get on the rest of your order.
Cons : It's black! After it goes through the flame it will become white in the bead but the rest of it is black and it makes a mess if you are not careful. The water will separate every time you use it which I think is common for all bead release but this is a big container so you are very much aware of it. You must mix it well or you will not get a nice coat on your mandrels.
Other Thoughts : The water will evaporate over time so if it starts to flake in the flame you might need to add some more water. Once I tried to tap some of the extra water off the mandrel after coating to create a thinner layer of coating and the beads would not come off the mandrel so make sure you have enough water in the mix.
National Book Lovers Day is a lesser known holiday - much to my disappointment. Its celebrated on August 9th every year. I love books. They open up a world of new possibilities to me. Each time I come back to a book, I bring fresh experiences and perspective to it, which lets me take something new away from it. Art books are no different. In addition to the bones of the process, the invaluable instruction that they present, they offer an opportunity to dream

Part 2 of a 2 part series on the basics of glass fusing. In this weeks article Donna gives advice on indispensable tools for beginner glass fusers. In the beginning, I used one larger tool, and that was a Super Star Grinder. It is still running, running, running. Others have come, and some have gone, but this one is still here. For smaller cold working projects, diamond hand pads do a nice job. The next cutting tool that I bought was a saw. My Taurus 3 Ring Saw has worked extremely well for me, and I love what I can do with it that I couldnt do before, but I worked for 2 years before I purchased this nifty item. As for cutters and breakers, I have many, but for me, the Silberschnitt breaker pliers are a must for small (1/4") strip breaking.....saves so much glass. I use both plastic
