Product Description
One Release for All Your Projects
Versatile release can be used on stainless steel or ceramic slumping and casting molds. It even works well with casting molds like Colour de Verre. Easy spray-on formula provides uniform coating to produce a flawlessly smooth project and release glass easily. Effective at temperatures up to 1800° F. 13 oz.

Click on  the User Manual PFD above for detailed product  instructions.

Note: Because MR-97 seals the surface, once you use it on your mold traditional primers won't absorb evenly.

Tip: While coating molds be sure shake well and keep the can vertical. Spraying at an angle or upside down will cause you to only get propellant and not the mold release.
This item cannot be shipped air.

Pros : This stuff is great! Uno messy kiln wash and hours to dry, and no debris from used shelf paper. Dries in about 20 min., 2 light coats for the first use, and only one before each use thereafter. Very economical as it goes a long way.
Cons : Once you use it on a ceramic mold, you can't use kiln wash on it
Other Thoughts : For pate de vere molds, use an extra coat first time

5 stars Worth Every Penny By on
Pros : My first attempts at slumping and casting were disappointing at best. After making the investment in MR97 my projects have been happily problem free.
Cons : Pricey but worth it

5 stars A favorite tool! By on
Pros : Long lasting and easy to apply, this mold release is my go-to for most projects. I get consistent results including smooth textures and no sticking what so ever. MR-97 dries fast and doesn't crackle like some other kiln washes, even if you get it on too thick in a spot; so no scrubbing it off and starting over!
Cons : Expensive up front, but the mold can be used several times before you need to reapply, so in the long run it isn't much more than Thinfire or other shelf paper.

Studio News: Tips for Using Frit Molds
Feb 14, 2012
Frit Molds are becoming increasingly more popular, especially with all the new styles of jewelry molds coming out. Getting a beautiful finished project can be tricky at times. Issue #1 Glass tends to stick; and create sharp ‘daggers’ on the sides of the glass project. This can happen when the glass ‘separator’ is getting thin or worn away. Boron Nitride MR-97 is the answer. It is a versatile product that can also be used on stainless steel molds as well. Think of it like ‘teflon’ on your frying pan. It will not allow the glass to stick to the mold. Projects pop right out and are ready to wear. You do have to follow the instructions and reapply as directed. Watch a video on how to use Boron Nitride MR-97. However if you do get ‘spurs’ on the sides of your project, simply use a wet hand sanding pad to
