Create Extraordinary Lampworked-Style Glass Beads
Using Simple Flameworking Techniques
What is Flameworking?
Flameworking, also called bead making and lampworking, is the process of creating glass beads and small sculptures using heat from a torch. With soft glass (Italian, Bullseye, System 96) you can create beads and small sculptural pieces. With hard glass (Borosilicate) you can also create larger projects, like pendants, vases and more. Delphi's wide selection of supplies and instructions means that your bead making possibilities are endless -- so get fired up and let your creativity run wild!
| Step-by-Step: Flameworking 1. Warm glass in flame. 2. Evenly wrap the molten and glowing glass around a mandrel. 3. Continuously roll the mandrel and bead in the flame to shape it. 4. Hold the bead at an angle and roll it against the marver edge to bevel the end. 5. Place the bead and mandrel between the layers of fiber blanket to cool. This very important step keeps your bead from breaking. |

| Hot Head Bead Making Kit - This is a kit I recommend to the students. This torch head gets hot, which makes glass melt faster and easier. Consequently you can produce more. It comes with a really nice assortment of glass to get started, plus just about everything else you need except for the tank of gas. Read More | ||
