Works Well But Use Candle 4 stars
By SilvArtGlsJwlry (top contributor) on July 30, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : I really like my Generation Green bottle cutter. I cut bottles to make bowls, bells, candle holders, etc. I get consistently even cuts, can adjust the height and width as needed, and get good results.
Cons : Do not separate the bottles using water baths as the directions say. It does not work properly that way- the bottles split unevenly. If you use a candle flame you can direct the break properly. Heat the entire score mark first, then concentrate on one inch at a time, directing the flame where you want the glass to break.

Almost didn't buy one 5 stars
By cafraser on January 6, 2012 - See all my reviews
Pros : Simple to use, it works! Lots of cutting blades. All the parts look pretty sturdy to me.
Cons : none - I have no complaints but this is the only bottle cutter I have ever used.
Other Thoughts : I almost did not purchase this cutter after reading the reviews online. I bought it; watched the FREE online video and commenced to trying it out. My first bottle was epic fail! But - I was impatient and was just tapping (banging) away on the bottle. All I got was a jagged edge and various runs. I don't think I got a good score either. The second cut (same bottle) I let the bottle sit and then plunged it in a cold water bath. Failed again. Then I decided to heat it up one more time. Ran out of time though and just put it under the cold water in the sink and the score ran. So now - with a new bottle - I let it heat up in the hot water, run it under cold running water and then back in the hot water. Comes right off nice and clean. Did it three more times just to make sure.

Great Bottle Cutter! 4 stars
By ellerbk on November 22, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : Makes beautiful cuts and is easy to adjust for size. I like the fact that the actual cutter has multiple blades to use when one gets dull.
Cons : It is a little awkward when first using it, but for the money it is well worth the effort to learn to handle it correctly.
Other Thoughts : I would like an interchangeable top or adapter for wider bottles. I did get it to work by using the metal lid and nailing a hole in the center, but that is not always possible.

Just use a Dremel 1 stars
By betrunkepenguin on November 15, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : Does a perfectly even score.
Cons : The screws do not hold the bar in place. The hot/cold water bath takes forever and then it separates horribly.
Other Thoughts : Waste of money and time.

really disappointed 1 stars
By denimangle on August 18, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : Made of recycled material.
Cons : Plastic part that goes in the bottle top doesn't stay on the cutter or in the bottle, and you need a screwdriver in order to secure the components. Screws just spin in the holes when you try to tighten. Difficult to adjust have not gotten one good cut.

Poor Quality 2 stars
By rattfink on July 13, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : When you have the height set it works ok, I was able to get pretty consistent scores.
Cons : Plastic part that goes in the bottle top is cracked, and you need a screwdriver in order to secure the components. Screws just spin in the holes when you use the wing-nuts otherwise.
Other Thoughts : I would like to see a replacement metal part for the part that goes in the top of the bottle, along with some thumb screws and a threaded hole.

good cutter but... 3 stars
By Keith P. on June 26, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : Successful cut with every bottle. Easy to use if you follow the instructions. Allows you to cut a variety of sizes.
Cons : The plastic tip that inserts into the bottles neck eventually broke. This piece is a poor quality piece of plastic.
Other Thoughts : The piece that broke could have easily been made of aluminum!

g2 bottle cutter poorly put together 1 stars
By keri.l.wenzel on June 8, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : Conceptually, the shape/design is user friendly.
Cons : However, I would definitely not recommend this glass cutter to anyone. The screws do not tighten completely and the top that fits inside to bottle to hold it steady is not even secured to the rest of the piece. This leaves so much room for error during the score that I receive a perfect cut only 10% of the time. And to break the glass evenly without it cracking, a perfect score must be made. If you are serious about cutting glass, I would search for other glass cutters. I support that this is made from recycled material, however I think more work needs to go into the design before anyone purchases it.
