Pros : Extremely easy to program, and large capacity for platters and multiple items. A very nice production kiln. I like that you can tell the controller what your cost of electricity is, and it will tell you how much a firing costs. I haven't used that feature yet, but it sounds very cool.

Cons : I can't think of any...the lid is heavy, but it is a large kiln. There are chains to keep it from falling backwards, but a nice modification might be a "lid assist". Forget the gym...I'm just going to work out with my kiln lid!
Also, since it's 240V, I hired an electrician to install the outlet. But if you're tired of doing laundry, you could probably just re-purpose your laundry room!

| Other Thoughts : I was stepping up from a small 9" AIM kiln with a three-button Bartlett controller. The Jen Ken is WONDERFUL. Programming it is EXTREMELY easy compared to my smaller kiln (I still don't know where the manual is and I've done several firings). I still keep the smaller kiln around for small firings, but the Jen Ken lets me entertain my dream of actually selling my work.
Also, Delphi used freight shipping through R&L...I was EXTREMELY impressed with their customer service. A trucking company actually lets you track your order online? The driver was courteous, helpful, and my kiln arrived more quickly than I expected and in perfect condition.
And as always, Delphi's customer service was outstanding. It is a joy to buy online with Delphi. |
