Product Description
The Zephyr Ring Saw Includes More Than Ever Before!
Make cuts in all directions with the quiet, smooth, easy-to-operate Gryphon Zephyr. Cut glass, tile, ceramics and stone up to 1-1/2" thick on the large 17-1/2" x 17-1/2" work surface. Features a deep 6-5/8" throat and diamond coated 7" round blade. Best of all, the saw's bearings and wheels are shielded to protect them from glass dust, extending the life of these critical parts.

The motor/ blade assembly can be easily detached, creating a hand-held saw that can be used to cut anywhere (see image below). Overall dimensions: 18" x 18" x 11". Three year manufacturer warranty (excludes replaceable parts).

With available specialty blades you can create cuts for all your designs with ease. Fine blade #84107 provides a smooth cut on even delicate materials such as dichroic and iridescent glass. Use the separating blade #84132 to make inside cuts with no leader path (see image below).

5 stars Love It By on
Pros : I have had this saw now for over a year now and have had no problems with it. I do have a band saw, but enjoy this one much better. In the time I've had this so far only the belt has had to be replaced. I make sure I totally clean it each time after use and remove all the grit. I introduced this to my students and after being afraid of using it they look forward to cutting questionable curves. I admit you do have to work pretty quickly when using it, but have found that using Mark Stay helps a great deal.
Cons : none for me
Other Thoughts : I also like the wide surface area. Wish the head had a spot light to shine on the cutting surface - Maybe that will be their next model.

5 stars Absolutely great service from Gryphon By on
Pros : I imported this saw to New Zealand at considerable expense and was mortified when I immediately struck problems with breaking blades. Gryphon was absolutely exceptional with their back up service, twice sending over replacement blades, wheels and inserts at no cost to me. With the exchange of photos via email, the problem was eventually spotted and with new wheels, rubber inserts and another blade so we could set the saw up correctly in an 'as new' condition, the problem was solved. I cannot speak highly enough of the service I received from Gryphon and would happily recommend a Gryphon product to anyone.
Cons : no cons :O)
Other Thoughts : More in depth manual could be advantageous :O)

Donna Sarafis: Basics of Fusing Part 2
Jul 24, 2012
Part 2 of a 2 part series on the basics of glass fusing. In this weeks article Donna gives advice on indispensable tools for beginner glass fusers. In the beginning, I used one larger tool, and that was a Super Star Grinder. It is still running, running, running. Others have come, and some have gone, but this one is still here. For smaller cold working projects, diamond hand pads do a nice job. The next cutting tool that I bought was a saw. My Taurus 3 Ring Saw has worked extremely well for me, and I love what I can do with it that I couldnt do before, but I worked for 2 years before I purchased this nifty item. As for cutters and breakers, I have many, but for me, the Silberschnitt breaker pliers are a must for small (1/4") strip breaking.....saves so much glass. I use both plastic
Turning Photos into Glass Projects

My husband and I recently met a spectacular couple, a genuine cowgirl and cowboy. Besides being fortunate enough to purchase a very sweet horse from them, we are proud to be able to call them our friends. While at their home I learned that her one of her best friends, her horse, had passed away the previous year. "Yoda" had carried her though years on the Rainbow Riders drill flag team, taken her to reigning championships, and safety along countless miles of trails. I wanted to do something special for her, and also try something new for me. I remembered seeing an article in the Delphi newsletter about making fused glass silhouettes from a photograph. While at her home I snuck a picture of her and Yoda sliding to victory, on my cell phone. I downloaded the picture and adjusted it to an appropriate size for a 10" by 10"
