Pros : I don't have any other grinders to compare this too but having bought this one I don't see that I'll ever need to try! Easy to assemble and swap laps, and grinds well. You can secure the laps above the protective circle if your piece is wider than the lap.
Cons : Keep water nearby to top up the reservoir - it ticks through faster than you think.
Other Thoughts : Definitely worth it for nice coldworking of edges, does great shaping and finishing.

Pros : this seems to be the workhorse in our shop. We use it daily.
Cons : Water system doesn't work to well so I keep extra water close.
Other Thoughts : I'm sorry I waited so long to buy it!!!

Big Surprise! 5 stars

Pros : I ordered this grinder because I didn't want to spend $3000, or take up space in my shop with a professional lap grinder. My lap grinder arrived two weeks ago and I have already used it on several projects. The directions are straight forward, and the grinder was easy to assemble. The surprise moment was when I turned on the power. I was mistakenly expecting a wimpy, weary sounding motor, instead I got a jet engine. The motor really doesn't load up unless you are trying to do something that the grinder is too heavy. The variable speed works smoothly. The only thing that I'm not super comfortable with is the water drip system, which would work well for higher grits and polishing, but is too slow for coarse grinding... easily fixed with a larger drip or a small submersible pump. The grinding discs seem to be of good quality and are plenty sharp. This little giant was worth every penny that I paid and more.
Cons : The water drip system is too slow for coarse grit grinding.
