Getting Started in a New Art Q: I'm new to these arts. How do I get started? A: You are in good company. Delphi has helped thousands of people around the world be creative and learn a new art. Think you will never be able to create the pieces you see on this website? You can and we'll help you do it. Visit the Getting Started section from the left bar on the home page. Delphi's artists and instructors break out the basic steps of each art, and include projects, technical handouts, and their recommendations for beginner kits, books and supplies. Have questions? A: Visit the Tips and Techniques section from the left bar on the home page, for detailed ideas and instruction on a variety of arts. Many web instruction pages are also available in pdf format and can be printed out with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Print instruction pages for handy, free reference while creating your project. Q: Do you offer free patterns? A: A large selection of our favorite stained glass patterns are ready to print from the Free Patterns section. Patterns are categorized by theme or project, including box lids, fan lamps, holiday, memo boards, panel lamps, patriotism and more. Don't forget - stained glass patterns can be adapted pretty easily for mosaic projects. Q: How do you use the web Projects? A: The Projects section is designed to save you time by listing all the supplies needed for a fabulous project. You can easily order the supplies you need or order all of the supplies with one click. Projects are categorized by art medium. Keep in mind that some projects may leave you with "extra" materials when you're done with your project - make sure to save it for your next creation! Q: How can I get instruction? A: For over 30 years Delphi has helped people teach themselves creative arts. There are several ways you can get instruction, depending on how you like to learn. Today there is a great selection of comprehensive instruction books and videos. Some of our favorites are included in the Getting Started section. Or, you could take a class. People travel from around the world to attend Delphi's classes, taught in our state-of-the-art classrooms at the Delphi Creativity Center in Lansing, Michigan. Classes are designed for busy travelers, many are one day, three day workshops or on weekends. Discounted lodging is available. See Delphi's complete class schedule.
