Fun to do 4 stars
By StaceysLawnDecor (top contributor) on February 14, 2013 - See all my reviews
Pros : Very sturdy construction. Easy gliding for scoring. Rubber on bottom keeps plate from sliding.
Cons : Longer bottles don't fit that great for closer to the neck cuts.

stuggle 1 stars
By erinfred on October 5, 2012 - See all my reviews
Pros : None
Cons : As an art studio owner you think I should be able to make this work. I have over 34 years experience in glass cutting and can't make this work. I have tried over 30 bottles and can't get a decent break. Tried all the tips from this site and from other online sources. Wish this was easy as I have lots of ideas.

Better Way 3 stars
By sdc1259 on September 16, 2012 - See all my reviews
Pros : The wheel etches the bottles OK.
Cons : I wanted to cut 1.5 liter bottles. I had to make modifications to the assembly in order to do this effectively. The instructions on how to use definitely need some work. First, you should make at least 5 revolutions of the bottle against the etching gismo. Getting a clean break starts with getting a full and consistent etch in the beginning. Instead of using the tedious candle and ice method of finishing the break, heat some water in a pot and in a separate vessel, make a volume of ice water - with cubes. Your easiest and best breaks occur by moving the bottle back and forth between the two containers of water. Start with the hot water being just hot to the touch and continue to heat until almost boiling. You will get a clean break easily.

Practice and patience needed 4 stars
By Laurie M. on August 10, 2012 - See all my reviews
Pros : I was excited to get the Ephrems Bottle Cutter. I was a little overwhelmed by all the steps in the direction book. But after practice on a few bottles I started to get the hang of it. I have made a few of the projects in the book that came with the cutter and found some ideas on the Delphi site. You do need to oil the wheel on the cutter every time you use it.This tool is a great thing if you want to recycle bottles into fun projects.
Cons :

Takes some time 3 stars
By sspeight (top contributor) on August 10, 2012 - See all my reviews
Pros : It is far superior to the other economic versions out there but it does take some time and patience to learn to use correctly
Cons : The booklet that comes with the unit does provide some hints on ideas on what to create with bottles but it is uninspiring.

Easy to use, works great 5 stars
By okeeday on January 24, 2012 - See all my reviews
Pros : Easy to handle. Comes with everything needed to score, separate, and sand smooth.
Cons : Just a caution not really a con - plate that supports bottom of bottle must be tightened properly to prevent shifting.
Other Thoughts : I evaluated three bottle cutters based on online reviews before buying this one. I am happy with my choice. The cutter is easy to control. Other cutters appeared to be a balancing act but this one cradles your bottle. I can let go and nothing shifts. The third bottle scored and separated perfectly. Constant even pressure is important to keep the score line continuous with no missing spots. The candle and ice method works well to separate the glass. Don't put the bottle directly into the flame and be patient - slowly heat bottle. Watch the youtube tutorial, it was very helpful.

A Waste of Money 1 stars
By Iris J. on November 23, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : None
Cons : This cutter is difficult to use. I could not get a bottle to break properly. In addition, it was very messy, since the candle leaves black residue on the glass.

junk 1 stars
By pjeant on July 13, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : None, this is junk.
Cons : Very poorly constructed, does not make even score lines, bottle neck does not help. After two weeks and 200 bottles, I would like a refund.
Other Thoughts : Don't waste your money.

waste of my time 1 stars
By KarinMarrero on April 25, 2011 - See all my reviews
Pros : I worked with this bottle cutter for several weeks. It does score the bottles.
Cons : However, the scores are uneven and I never was able to make an acceptable score. I called support many times and checked through you tube and other videos for help. I never was able to find anything to help me achieve acceptable results.
Other Thoughts : To me, not worth the time or money.

Works Great! 5 stars

Pros : Made of metal, so much better than the plastic one I have tried. Easy to use. Works great on beer and wine bottles.
Cons : Limited to length and diameter of bottles,

Not happy 1 stars
By oxyqueen1187 on December 24, 2010 - See all my reviews
Pros : It does score the bottle.
Cons : It is very hard to adjust. It is hard to control. None of my hardware will stay tightened so I get a lot of slippage on my score lines. A ruler on it would sure be nice and a better way to cut the necks would be too. I enjoy cutting bottles but I would not recommend this cutter to my worst enemy. I am looking for a better cutter.

Pros : Worth the money!...Took only two bottles to get process down where it became easy!...Great investment!
Cons : Wish it were bigger for larger bottles.

What fun!! easy to use! 5 stars
By Eclecticity (top contributor) on August 13, 2010 - See all my reviews
Pros : I was a little intimidated by the instructions, though being a seasoned glass cutter for stained and fused glass. Followed the easy directions and had my first wine bottle cut in no time. Just take a little patience, may take a few passes with candle and ice, but not long and you will have your pieces cut! love it!!
Cons : none

this does not "cut" anything 1 stars
By miss.heidi.s on January 1, 2010 - See all my reviews
Pros : fairly inexpensive.. simple
Cons : Be aware, this does not actually cut anything, it is just to "score" the surface, then you have heat the glass, cool the glass and pray to god it will break somewhat evenly. It does not work on smaller bottles, such as beer bottles. the blades are already wobbling and dull, and I've used it about 6 times. your hands will hurt after trying to score the glass just one time, and you'll spend forever trying to polish down the choppy cut that you end up getting. cannot score angles and cannot work for smaller diameters, also, the length adjustment is not adjustable enough.

very limiting 2 stars
By hopemorris on November 27, 2009 - See all my reviews
Pros : very study, and easy to score the bottle. If you are only looking to cut off the neck of the bottle and create unique glassware out of the base, this tool will work fine.
Cons : I was looking to make 2 or more cuts in a bottle, and make glass slices. This tool did not allow me the flexibility to cut slices from the neck of the bottle.

What I've learned.... 5 stars
By muledeer5x5 on October 12, 2009 - See all my reviews
Pros : This is one great cutter very easy to use just as it is and can be made better with little effort, You just gotta try this cutter!!!
Cons : Hard to adjust with the bottle stop as supplied. Unit is small and can move just when you don't want it to, and don't forget to oil the cutting wheel for every cut, it maintains the cutting wheel and helps to make it last for a really good purchase you will be happy with.
Other Thoughts : I mounted the cutter on a plastic cutting board and moved the bottle stop out in front of the cutter. Mount and stop are secured with metal screws to the cutting board. You can then move the stop out to cut the tops off of the bottles or in to cut the bottoms. Fill a plastic container with cold water atleast 6-7 inches deep, you can add ice to this if needed then score your bottle top or bottom, seal the top closed for top cuts,so water doesn't enter. Heat your scored bottle and then dip it into the water just above the cut mark, with a little practice the bottle should give off a ping sound and the bottle in the water should just fall off. If it doesn't the first time check the cut mark by looking on an angle to see where the bottle didn't break, heat this area again it might fall off while heating and if not dip it in the water again. With very little practice you should be making good straight cuts and running out of bottles. Great cutting.

Fun tool 4 stars
By charlielou on August 30, 2009 - See all my reviews
Pros : Easy to use, lots of ideas in kit.
Cons : The screw that holds the length adjustment is somewhat difficult- should be more user friendly.
Other Thoughts : Very stable once you have the screw tightened. A learning curve for first timers, but easy and fun. I experimented, and instead of using the candle, I used my embossing heat gun (used for card stamping), and it worked great! Terrific results and no carbon ring to clean up -- and no open flame to deal with. Also, I did not use the 'ice cube' to cool the score line. I filled a bucket with water and submerged the bottle. A good point that was brought up on bottle cutting (when I did an online search) is that most of the bottles we work with are 'cheap' made and therefore the thickness and 'roundness' is not consistent. Don't give up -- just throw it out and try again on another bottle. (*Make sure to remove any labels and glue in the way-- a clean bottle breaks much better!) Lastly, all breaks have some uneven-ness even after sanding and using the polishing powder. One trick I found is after I do that, I use a glass etching cream in the shiny areas of the cut for consistent

First Time Bottle Cutter 5 stars
By Mark W. on February 21, 2009 - See all my reviews
Pros : This bottle cutter has been so much fun! I've never attempted anything like this, and it's made my projects much easier. For fatter bottles, you just turn the blade outward a little, and you still get a good score.
Cons : It does take a little practice to get a clean cut, but keep at it! It really didn't take me long to learn. TIP: practice cutting one bottle down about a half an inch at a time to prevent wasting space on multiple bottles.

Finally a working cutter 5 stars
By freyjasfire on December 2, 2008 - See all my reviews
Pros : It is adjustable and easy to use. Unlike many other cutters I have purchased this one works great. Like with all glass cutters you have to get use to the proper pressure and angle. Worth the money.
Cons : Wish you could adjust roller width for very large objects.
Other Thoughts : I put oil on my wheels before I use the cutter to extend the life of the blade. Just dap your cutter oil on a q tip or paper towel to apply.
