Product Description

Form unique cast glass beads to wear as a focal point, or join them with jump rings, links or wire wrapping to create fantastic wearable art. Nano beads also make fantastic fused additions to incorporate with Colour de Verre's jewelry designs such as Pillow Pendants, Geometric Beads, Small Ring Beads and more. For a bold look, pair with the Nano Drop Beads mold - #77916.

Coat molds with ZYP or mold primer before use. Mold creates 14 beads; 6 round beads, 6 square beads and 2 cabochons. The beads are small, each measuring about 5/8 inch (15mm) in diameter. Mold measures 7" x 4-1/2" x 1" overall. See size perspective of mold with quarter and dime images shown.

Creating cast glass jewelry is a rewarding (and giftable) project. These molds make it easy to create professional-quality pendants in a single firing. Follow these simple tips for best results.

Preparing Your Mold
Always prime molds so glass releases cleanly.
Recommended options:

  • ZYP Lubricoat (Aerosol): Easy application and removal; produces smooth surfaces.
  • Casting Primer: Brush-on option; affordable and widely available (requires more cleanup).
Filling the Mold:
  • Add a base layer of medium clear frit.
  • Sprinkle fine clear frit to level.
  • Arrange murrini with tweezers.
  • Lightly sprinkle fine clear frit to stabilize, leaving murrini visible.
  • Fire using the recommended pendant schedule.
Creative Tips:
  • Flip and refire pendants if the back looks better than the front.
  • Combine transparent and opal frits for added depth.
  • Experiment with different mold shapes for variety.

Frit Molds are becoming increasingly more popular, especially with all the new styles of jewelry molds coming out. Getting a beautiful finished project can be tricky at times. Issue #1 Glass tends to stick; and create sharp daggers on the sides of the glass project. This can happen when the glass separator is getting thin or worn away. Boron Nitride MR-97 is the answer. It is a versatile product that can also be used on stainless steel molds as well. Think of it like teflon on your frying pan. It will not allow the glass to stick to the mold. Projects pop right out and are ready to wear. You do have to follow the instructions and reapply as directed. Watch a video on how to use Boron Nitride MR-97. However if you do get spurs on the sides of your project, simply use a wet hand sanding pad
