Delphi EZ-Pro TAP Controller
The future is here! The latest controller in the EZ-Pro family takes running a kiln to a whole new level. Get started the easy way with the user-friendly touch screen that is capable of holding virtually unlimited programs.

TAP, by SDS Industries, is the first commercially available consumer kiln controller that utilizes an intuitive graphical user interface to enable the glass artist to immediately start programming and operating their kiln. Scott Shannon identified a significant disconnect between current technology and the consumer options available in the kiln control domain. The TAP Controller with its smart-phone like interface provides access to logging capabilities, unlimited number of schedule segments, on-the-fly schedule modifications, and even software updates.

Pre-Set Firing Programs for Beginners
It's simple to full fuse, slump, tack fuse and fire polish with pre-set firing programs. Whether you are fusing with 90 or 96 COE glass, the EZ-Pro makes it easy! Kiln includes 4 pre-set programs for each type of glass.

  •   Great starter set
By on
Pros : Complete kiln with electronic controller(+++LOVE THIS) , nice sample glass selection to get started, excellent "Contemporary Warm Glass" book for information and reference.
Cons : Does not include glass cutting tools, but you would probably already know that you are going to need these if you're spending this kind of money
Other Thoughts : Great starter set, pricey if you are not feeling that you are going to be committed, but if you want to dive in head first, this is an excellent way to go.

The Feathers of the Phoenix Plate is the most complex plate I have made so far.Making the glass feathers and fusing the plate is an 8-step process. It starts with a glass brick that is fused from layers of transparent and opal glass dammed between four kiln bricks. The brick is then sawed in half and bookended, then fused again. After fusing, the brick is sawed into thin slices with a round diamond bladed Taurus 3 glass saw. The slices are again bookended together and fused with a piece of clear glass on top. All the glass feathers turn out beautifully and never look the same. They can be used in jewelry and plates. The feathers are laid out on a black piece of opal glass and fused flat. Then a transparent piece of glass is placed on top, and the plate undergoes another 12-hour fusing. The last step

I saw a free stained glass pattern in the Delphi newsletter that I just loved. I knew if I made it into a stained glass panel, I wouldnt be able to eat off of it. So I set out to create a fused glass platter instead. My husband and I decided to cut all the pattern pieces by hand (thinking about it later, I would have used my Delphi Taurus 3 glass saw). We sandwiched all the fusible pieces between two sheets of transparent 96 COE glass. In the end, I didnt have the heart to slump it into its mold. I made a channel on each side with fiber paper foam and transparent glass, to hang it with. (I have learned to double the channels for the wire loop.) There were some bubbles due to our handcutting and gaps, so the second fusing got rid of some of those.
