Hakko 456 Iron 5 stars
By hanksglass (top contributor) on December 7, 2010 - See all my reviews
Pros : I have been using mine for 7-8 years, and still acts as good as it used to. A truly professional model. Don't let the low wattage scare you. Because of efficiency, this iron performs much better than most 100w irons would.
Cons : No cons at all.
Other Thoughts : Price is low enough that you can purchase a rheostat box and still not pay any more than for a mid-range iron. Haven't heard anything about the new Hakko which has rheostat build in. It may be not too much more expensive than the 456 on a net basis. This product is great. Think about purchasing one if you need an iron.

Hakko 60 watt 5 stars
By jjall on November 13, 2010 - See all my reviews
Pros : Great iron. Not too heavy or bulky. Works great with Mika temp controller and gives a much better range of temperature control. Holds the heat evenly (no heat up, cool down, heat up....)
Cons : None

Hakko iron 4 stars
By kggriffin (top contributor) on August 30, 2010 - See all my reviews
Pros : It is easier to use than any other iron of this range I have used.
Cons : You have to use a rheostat to control the heat out put or it gets too hot.

Pros : This iron does not loose heat.

Great Iron 5 stars
By Julieann on March 12, 2009 - See all my reviews
Pros : I truly love this iron. I tend to solder quite fast and this iron works wonderful for me. My solder lines improved dramatically. The iron does not loose heat while soldering nor does it take long to heat up.
Cons : I can't think of any.
Other Thoughts : At first I thought having to purchase a temp controller as well was a bit of a bother but I have since re-thought that. I have such precise control now between the iron and the controller that I won't ever go back to not having one. It would be nice to see these 2 things combined in one package price though.
