Pros : This iron is a pleasure to use. Beginners or pro's should not think twice about using an iron with temp control. (it took me years to discover)...It's a must. I wish I would have purchased this iron years ago!
Cons : No cons, that I can see.

Temptrol 100W Review 4 stars
By hanksglass (top contributor) on July 23, 2008 - See all my reviews
Pros : I have used these for about six years in my teaching. Pros are they are a solid mid-range iron, carrying a decent price and adequate prolonged power.
Cons : Power fluctuations really affect the irons adversely. However,I have had students test these irons against the Weller P100 and they like the Temptrol unanimously over the Weller (surprise to me.)
Other Thoughts : All in all, a nice product, and I recommend it to students who are buying their first iron. Adequate, but decidedly less expensive than the Hakko 456 and its box, that I prefer as a more accomplished solderer than students.
