Pros : Doesn't require moving a lot of things. Easy to clean, easy to use. Not bulky.
Cons : Thinness could result in overheating.
Other Thoughts : I have one of these and have used it quite a while and love it. I use my table for other things so now when I want to solder I just need to clean a small space. When I'm finished I wash it under the faucet. I have never had any trouble with it getting hot or the under surface getting hot.

Pros : Love this item. No burning surfaces and its really easy to clean. Just grab a damp paper towel and brush everything into a pile - perfect for soldering small jewelry items.
Cons : No cons that I can think of
