Product Description
Makes Old Soldering Iron Tips Like New!

Sal Ammoniac, also called a tinning block, quickly cleans any carbon build-up that collects on the tip of a soldering iron. Simply rub the tip of a hot iron against the block and in seconds, the tip is clean, bright and hot. The 1/2 pound block lasts a long time.

For best results and longer lasting soldering iron tips, use the tinning block occasionally to re-tin the surface of your tip. A moist soldering iron sponge, such as item #5009, is ideal for routine maintenance while soldering to keep the tip clean.

5 stars Saved my iron! By on
Pros : Convenient and easy to use
Cons :
Other Thoughts : I bought this as a last resort in an attempt to save an old iron tip that was very dirty and not holding temperature well anymore. I had already tried all the other methods of cleaning the tip (brass brush, etc.) to no avail, and this product brought it back from the dead! The tip is now clean and shiny and working great. Definitely worth the money.

5 stars New life for tired irons! By on
Pros : I keep my Tinning Block close while soldering and use it frequently, especially if it's a large panel. It REALLY makes a difference in how easily your solder flows. I've been using the same block for years and years.
Cons : None!
Other Thoughts : I haven't actually tried this, but my local stained glass shop said you can rub a wet paint brush on your Sal Ammoniac and use it to give 3-D items cut from 24 gauge sheet copper that nice blue-green patina.
