Pros : Has what you need to get started. I was a total newbie who didn't have any training or stained glass tools and I managed to create stained glass projects on my own with this kit. The glass that came with it was a good variety and enough to begin with. It shipped super fast too!
Cons : A con would be the flux marker. I found that it really didn't work well at all. I'd recommend purchasing a liquid or paste flux. I'd also recommend a fume trap to protect your health when soldering and consider lead-free solder, especially if you have kids in your work area. Other things I'd suggest: a homosote board to work on, layout blocks to keep your projects square and push pins.
| Other Thoughts : Other than that, it's been a lot of fun and I'm addicted! |

Pros : This kit comes with everything to get the beginner artist started. All the items are easy to use and come with great instructions that are easy to understand.
Cons : The glass selection that came with the kit could have had more variety of colors.
| Other Thoughts : I really enjoy this kit. I have already began using it and creating beautiful projects. The DVD also is helpful when trying to understand some techniques. |

Pros : This kit is absolutely perfect for the beginner. The patterns and DVD make it easy to jump right in and start creating your own unique stained glass art.
Cons : It is hard to see where the flux has been applied with the pen.
| Other Thoughts : I would however recommend the glastar foiling machine in addition. |

Pros : The savings for the kits are helpful --- maybe 15-20% overall (I would guess.) The tools are good quality the purchaser wouldn't outgrow them right away.
Cons : The beginning student would probably do much better with a pistol grip rather than pencil grip cutter that is furnished.
I think the idea that glassers can teach themselves is a lot of hype. The progression to intermediate wouldn't be very fast, I don't think.
| Other Thoughts : There are a lot of other items that make up a beginning level workshop --- chemicals, wire, special pliers, metal cutters for came, came, on and on. Self teaching students should be made aware of this. |

Pros : All the tools needed plus enough glass to practice with i.e. break and create an few little projects. The DVD included seems homemade BUT is still VERY informative and watched intently.
Cons : Wish there was more glass.
| Other Thoughts : There is just something about breaking glass. |
