  •   Takes practice
By on
Pros : The concept is good and for me the smaller pieces did great once I figured out the correct tension.
Cons : I wasted a lot of foil because I couldn’t get it centered correctly with the larger pieces. It takes a bit of practice and for me patience to put it on correctly.

  •   Love it
By on
Pros : Very easy to use. Easy to change out the rolls of foil and it comes with three different wheels for three sizes of foil.
Cons : Had to attach a board to the bottom so I could clamp it to the table.

  •   Great tool
By on
Pros : Makes foiling go much faster.
Cons : Takes a little practice but for those of us that are just starting out and are not great at doing it neatly by hand this is a great tool.

  •   Great device
By on
Pros : It took a few tries to get the hang of it but it's a real time saver. I recommend this tool to anyone doing stained glass work
Cons : It's a bit clumsy for very small pieces so I still do those by hand.
Other Thoughts : I have the foiler attached to my work table, but I think it would be easier to use if it were elevated an extra 10 inches or so. When I have time I will make a stand to raise it up more.

  •   Great machine
By on
Pros : Trust yourself...this is very easy to foil with Take your time...feel the different pressures you apply and soon you will know just how much pressure is needed to get your foiling machine to perfectly foil. I was done with a project before I knew it. I placed it on a micro fiber cloth and it did not move. Wonderful little invention

  •   Foiling Machine
By on
Pros : Makes foiling faster and keeps it from tangling up. I can keep it center most of the time.
Cons : If I want to switch foil it is hard to get off without some of it unrolling, making it a pain.
Other Thoughts : To me this is not a hard machine to use, just takes practice.

  •   good for big pieces
By on
Pros : makes quick work of larger pieces, easy to set up and use
Cons : smaller pieces are tricky to foil with this machine, I always end up wrapping those by hand still.
Other Thoughts : only has 1 wheel for each thickness foil...so if you have silver back foil and copper back foil that are the same size you have to take one off to use the other. I wish it had 2 wheels for each size so you can keep 2 different backed foils on at the same time. other than that little complaint.... this product works great!

  •   Big Help
By on
Pros : Fantastic machine, fairly priced, huge time saver.
Cons : Took a bit of getting used to, but once you do you'll fall in love.
Other Thoughts : I wasn't sure about this at first, I am new to stained glass and at first this seemed like just an extra step to figure out. Once I did figure it out however, it saved me a lot of time and my foiling is much straighter and more even on the glass without thinking. I love this machine.

  •   Time SAVER
By on
Pros : Definatley a time saver over hand foiling. Once it is set up properly to your liking it works great.
Cons : None so far.
Other Thoughts : This must be clamped tightly to a sturdy base. I clamp mine to the edge of a table.

  •   Not sure
By on
Pros :
Cons : The idea behind it is great. Once I started using it, seems that is not as great as I thought. I wasted a lot of foil trying it. A video from Delphi glass or the maker might help. Was it a good investment? Not sure.

  •   Good for Price
By on
Pros : Makes foiling more accurate and much faster. I can get a lot of foiling done in a short time. I use a regular clamp to clamp it to my workbench.
Cons : Roller wheels get sticky from the foil. I use one of the commercial citrus goo cleaners occasionally to keep them clean. The foil roll will sometimes stick to the body. That was remedied by putting a piece of scrap plastic between the roll and the body.
Other Thoughts : I really like this tool. It saves me a lot of time and does a good job. The cost is very reasonable for what it is.

  •   Glastar foiling machine
By on
Pros : This foiling tool is so fast and works well with all size foils. It has been so handy and easy to use after you get use to it. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a faster and more accurate way of foiling.
Cons : This machine needs to be blotted down to a piece of wood and weight put on the back to keep it from falling over all the time. Takes practice when you first start using it.
Other Thoughts : A good tool to have for your stained glass projects.

  •   Great Value
By on
Pros : Dispenses and centers the foil cutting your time dramatically. Separates the foil from the backing and keeps the backing out of your way.
Cons : If you use Studio Pro foil, it comes with a plastic insert that the foil is wrapped around which makes it somewhat difficult to mount the roll of foil on the machine. You can do it but have a couple screw drivers handy to help spread the spool over the ridge on the machine to mount the foil.
Other Thoughts : As I am just a beginner, foiling a project was a drudgery for me. I would spend several hours to get a project wrapped in foil. It took me about an hour to get the hang of using this machine but once I did, foiling became easy and far less time consuming. I've mounted the machine on a board to keep it portable and love the results I've gotten. If you are an expert stained glass person, you may not have any use for this machine. But for me, it was a God send!

  •   Timesaver
By on
Pros : This takes the drudgery out of foiling. It is fast and the guide really does help apply the foil evenly. I clamp it down on the edge of my work table when I need to use it and then can easily move it out of the way when I am done. I like to have the "guides" over the edge of the table to facilitate larger pieces of glass.
Cons : None that I can think of and I have used one of these for years.

  •   It Just Works!!
By on
Pros : Instructions said use for 2 hours before deciding. Worked perfectly after just 15 minutes, even on tiny pieces.
Cons : None.
Other Thoughts : Forget the other foilers. This is the one to get.

  •   Not great, but still good.
By on
Pros : It does keep the foil from getting all tangled up. It also peels the backing off for you.
Cons : It doesn't center the foil on the edge of the glass. I can do a better job of centering the foil without this tool.

Pros : This machine is great for applying your foil. It puts a slight crimp and makes it extremely easy to keep the foil centered.
Cons : Takes a bit of finessing to get your tension just right.

  •   time saver
By on
Pros : Wasn't sure I would like using a machine to help save time in foiling, but after just a few pieces of foiling on this machine, it cut foiling time in half. Mounted machine on heavy board so I can reposition it as necessary to achieve the best location and keep it portable. Would recommend highly.
Cons : none that I have found
