  •   Best Kiln for the Money
By on
Pros : I did a lot of shopping, even at local Wholesalers. This is definately the best sized kiln anywhere on the market in this price range. Evenheat makes some of the most durable, long-lasting kilns in America according to my fusing instructor. The kneeling stage was so perfect, without any fluctuations in heat. The Rampmaster II makes firing so much easier I'm able to work next to the kiln and just glance over to see the temperature and what stage it's in. The heat dissipates within a few inches outside the kiln and I can't believe how comfortable the temperature in the room remained. That's important in Florida.
Cons : I did have to hire an electrician since it's my first 240v kiln. I was able to get a certified man after hours to install the breaker and run wiring through my attic. You MUST have a breaker installed! It was a couple hundred dollars because I needed 60 feet of that thick wiring and I have cathedral ceilings that were time consuming to find clearance for the cord. Now it's increased the value of my home much more than that, though. Since I ran 240v to the back screened porch, it could be used for a jacuzzi or pool pump/heater by someone else if I sold my place.
Other Thoughts : The Interior is 23 inches across! I can do wonderful large projects or several small ones together. It has actually cut down on my firing time leaving more time for creating.
