  •   Great Mold
By on
Pros : Perfect round cabochons Nice size
Cons : None
Other Thoughts : Surprised to see some of the ratings on this. Even as a novice, I never had any problems with this mold. Makes a great platform for decals and decorative frit.

  •   sticking glass or stuck minds?
By on
Pros : These molds, as all molds, are only as good as their primer and the primer that primer used. Getting the picture? YES, all molds should come with a twelfth generation photo copy of directions, because everyone is at sometime a novice mold user. HOWEVER, if one has a problem once, shouldn't one try to avoid whatever steps were taken the next time to promote a different outcome? These molds do work. And, yes, the resultant pieces do benefit from a brief fire polishing. (Perhaps fire polishing is another technique some mold users might wish to research prior to casting (haha) their mold to the trash. I am certain the people who were disappointed in the outcome of the cabochon were disappointed also in the outcome of their efforts. Who wouldn't be? But, before scaring others off, why not provide a link to one of thousands of YouTube or Delphi or Warm Glass videos or other instructional medium? What a tremendous service to others seeking objectiveness in the product reviews.
Cons : Obviously, I'd like to see written directions and/or links to quality directions for using molds, fire polishing and related techniques.
Other Thoughts : See above and see you in the checkout line!

  •   love the molds
By on
Pros : The molds are a quick and easy way to make a batch of magnets or pendants. I have several of these molds and they work great: I do not have problems with the glass sticking (I use Primo kiln wash), and very seldom do I ever have to grind either devitrification and/or kiln wash off the cabs, just fire using a bubble squeeze schedule and pop out a finished product.
Cons : I wish the molds made more than four at a time.

  •   glass sticks even with mold release
By on
Pros : If you can get the glass out, they turn out great.
Cons : Even with using shelf primer and the mold release spray, opal glass sticks to the mold and will not come out. All three of the molds I bought by this manufacturer have the same problem. I can no longer use them because the glass will not come out with out breaking the mold. They should include a tip sheet on what mold release should be used with their products.

  •   Filling Mold
By on
Pros : I like the small size. It is a perfect size for the key rings
Cons : I had not filled it enough with frit. Remember to overfill as the frit compacts on melting.

  •   Wonderful addition to my mold collection!
By on
Pros : ease of use, small size makes it easy to store
Cons : other people that don't know how to use the mold
Other Thoughts : Contrary to other opinions, this mold is great. You MUST be prepared to use your glass grinder and take the sharp edges off of your cabochon when it comes out! Very rarely do you get a perfect cabochon the first time. After grinding the edges, just put it back in the kiln and firepolish. Perfect cabs every time! I loved mine so much I ordered another one so I could make more at a time.

  •   not worth it
By on
Pros : uniform size
Cons : Pieces were rough, I did not find them attractive enough to use.
Other Thoughts : There are better ways to use frit.
