Product Description

A staple for hot glass artists, you will find frit useful for many applications, including jewelry and casting projects. Frit is made from sheets of Oceanside art glass which is crushed, screened, before being re-tested to ensure you're receiving the very best compatible product.

Get started with a fusing essential with this sampler. Contains seven 8.5 oz. jars of transparent and opalescent frit in a combination of fine and medium grit. Colors will vary.

Fused flower plate by artist Melanie Churchill. Rose project by artist Ann Koss, from Delphi's Online Artist Gallery.  Smaller image shows the texture of the frit, larger image shows the color.

Pros : Nice Spring style colors. Enough to really get the thought process going.
Cons : Would have prefered maybe one more fine and one less course grit.
Other Thoughts : maybe add a brown or a black to this collection for things like tree limbs

Pros : This is a good mixture of colors and textures. Some of the frit is fine, some is medium coarse. This allows for more definition in some images in the glass.
Cons :
Other Thoughts : Would be great to include some sample pieces to create to get started. Used the videos online which helped alot.

How did you get started in glass? My husband Rich and his father used to have a custom stained glass window door company in Santa Clara, CA, so one day he offered to teach me stained glass. You also do beautiful beadwork, which came first, beading or warm glass? The beading came first and then my husband signed us up for a fused glass lesson at Ocean Sky Beads Glass in Oceanside, CA. I was so taken by it, that I asked him for a kiln for Christmas. Who or what inspires you? Discovering or making up new techniques inspire me the most, but I am also inspired by horses, animals and the sea. You seem to be inspired by Southwestern culture and style, tell us more about that. All skill levels, from beginning crafters to studio artists, are encouraged to participate. Entry must indicate which COE was used to create the piece, 90 or 96.
