How do I choose the correct adhesive for my mosaic project?
Weldbond adhesive is excellent for flat surfaces such as tabletops. When you start to work on 3-D projects like candle shelters, pots, or birdhouses you will want to use the silicone adhesive or liquid nails. These are thicker adhesives and will hold your glass in place rather than allowing them to slide with gravity.
How do I use the mosaic mesh product?
Lay your pattern on your work bench. Cover the pattern with plastic wrap. Next lay the mosaic mesh down on top of the pattern and glue your tiles/glass onto the mesh. Weldbond works great. Once the glue is dry pick up the mesh, peel the plastic wrap off the back and adhere the mesh onto your wall using mastic.
Is the no days adhesive used for mosaics good for glass on glass --- such as is it foggy when applied and heated eliminating value of transparent glass mosaic pieces. Also, does the adhesive stick on both the substrate and glass, etc. If not, what non-water adhesive would work with the no-days. Thanks.
I'm going to do a bird bath for a Christmas project. I'm using stained glass pieces on the bottom, how do we get them to stick on the bottom. And how do I seal the cement. Thanks 1st timer
I've had great success doing mosaics on metal when i glue with siliconized acrylic caulk instead of white glue. In fact, i almost never use white glue or any other PVA glue for any mosaics. I like everything to be as water proof as possible and white glue gets tacky when damp. It also gets cloudy when its behind clear glasses.
to prepare a metal table for mosaic, you will need to add plywood or greenboard to the top...glass does not stick well on metal. next mix some elmers white glue with water and brush on the wood. this makes it water resistant. mosaic as usual and grout. seal with a good waterproof sealer. find this at a swimming pool tile supply store. mine has withstood the elements for over 10 years. good luck, ani
I have a metal table that I want to mosaic. How do I prepair the surface?
I usually wait three days. I follow the directions on my package. If the brand you use doesn't have directions then I would wait at least three days.
