Experience Required: Some previous bead making experience is recommended.
Type of Class: Demonstration and hands-on project
Class Description: Further your bead making skills, try some new techniques, and work on perfecting your current skills in this one day class. Each student will have their own work station, equipped with a Minor Bench Burner ( or equivilant). Each person can work extensively on this hotter and faster torch system. Students will learn to safely set up and use the torch, hoses, regulators, and the use of intermediate hand tools not covered in our beginning class. Some new things to try will include the use of silver sheet, millefiori, doing accents with dichroic glass, and basic sculptural techniques. Demonstrations include making and applying multicolored stringers and latticinos.
Safety: Please do NOT wear open toed shoes or sandals. Long pants are recommended but not mandatory. Natural fiber clothes are best, cotton, linen, etc. Long hair should be tied back. Safety glasses must be worn, glasses are provided in class if needed.
Tools & Materials Included: Use of a work station equipped with a Oxy / propane torch. Glass rod, dichroic glass, silver foil, and millefiori. The use of mandrels , various tweezers and hand tools.
