Stained glass artists have often been confined to picking out the glass they need from the glass shop. And while there is an abundance of wonderful glass on the market, what if you could make your own? Join glass artist Malcolm Potek in this 2-day class. Students will explore designs that can be fired into a single sheet appropriate for standard foiling or lead technique. Using, powders, frits, stingers, and stencils, students will be able to realize many interesting patterns not normally found in the off the shelf glass shop. This is a hands-on workshop, and students can expect to create 3 -4 custom sheets, more depending on kiln space.
The topics covered will include creating custom stencils, powder painting and line
manipulation. Kiln Firing Schedules and trouble shooting in the kiln will be highlighted along with safety and best practices.
Bring your questions and a set of your favorite cutting tools. (Scoring Knife, Running
Pliers, and a Grozer.).
Malcom Potek has been teaching glass and glass art techniques for 30 years. Almost from the beginning of his career he has found great joy in sharing techniques that allow students to express themselves.
