Pros : It was very educational and I had a blast. The instructor was very nice and she was informative. She, Steena (I believe) took the time to help each and every member of the class out. She was knowledgeable, quick with tips and safety, and had a good easy teaching style.
Cons :
Other Thoughts : For the store have kits or the tools that are for sale in the class room to increase your sales.
Pros : I'm 77 yrs old and have never had a craft class in my adult life. I took an all-day class in colored glass with came. It was truly challenging for me but my very competent and patient teacher saw me through to the end - even though she had to extend her time in order for me to complete my project. I brought home a beautiful piece of art to my wife.
Thank you!
Pros : I learned a lot from this class was able to complete the project by the end of the day which is critical to be able to experience all the key steps in lead came. I didn't feel rushed at all, and appreciated having the entire day to learn this. Steena did a great job and her depth of knowledge/experience came through in her ability to answer all the questions. We had 6 in the class, but she was able to get to everyone for individual help. I am really glad I took the class and feel confident in my newfound lead came abilities. Just need to get at it. Thanks
Cons : We got off to a bit of a slow start since there was a mixup in the number of people Steena was told would be there and the number who were there, but it worked out fine.
Other Thoughts : The patterns were pretty boring. It would have been nice to have something simple enough to be completed in a day, yet something that I could hang on a window.
Pros : All materials except glass were provided. Participants are able to take home a complete project. Instructor has a lot of knowledge.
Students should bring a few rags to dry off glass pieces after using grinding machine. Paper towels and tissues were available. Rags also do a much better job of shining up the glass piece after removing the first layer of cement.
Cons : Instructor did not know that their were six students, only set up for four. Website showed the class was full, so either manager or instructor was ill informed. This led to people not having the handouts til over an hour in the class, materials were not distributed and a general sense of disorganization. Initial instructions should be written down for instructors: 1. inform students where bathrooms are, 2. ask students to put on a name tag that should already be at station, 3. go over project, steps that will be completed, 4. ask students how much experience they each have do you know which students may need extra assistance, 5. inform students that a half hour lunch break will be given, 6. The table was not preset, the instructor should be set up before students arrive.
Materials in the individual student boxes were not complete. Pencils were missing, permanent markers were dried up. Previous instructors should be held accountable.
Other Thoughts : Pictures should be taken of the completed student projects so future students can get ideas. It is overwhelming in the glass shop when purchasing your glass. If you see a color scheme in a project you want, it would be faster to select the colors.
Pros : Great Work area, we had everything we needed! Steena was very knowledgeable on how to came, foil and every aspect of stain glass projects. I learned alot!
Cons : Next time, after signing up on line, I would call the store and verify I was on the class list.
Pros : Knowledgeable instructor, and plenty of time to work
Cons : As a beginning class, it would have been EXTREMELY helpful to have a few minutes of soldering practice before having to solder my piece. Never done it before, and my lack of experience really cheapened the look of my piece. Very disappointed in that aspect.
The cement we used was old and I'm not sure it will set properly.
Wasn't told (either on the website, or in-store when I shopped for glass the week before class) that there were 3 pattern choices. Would have been nice to know beforehand. I might have made other choices.
Pros : Great class! Steena, the instructor, explained each segment of the lead came process with great detail. The pace and steps to completing the final product was perfect. I did not feel rushed in the end. Each student left with a beautiful completed project. Thank you for your patience Steena, 90 Cutting came at 45 and 90 have become easier.
