Description: Flameworking guest artist Joy Munshower is back at Delphi to teach this new extraordinary class; hedgehogs, dragons, chickens and giraffe in bas-relief.
This workshop is for intermediate and advanced students. Students will be sculpting bas-relief style beads with an emphasis in surface texture detail and cane application. Students will learn how to sculpt Hedgehogs, Dragons, Rooster/Hen and a Giraffe from both photo reference and instructor-drawn examples. Students will learn how to break down the shapes of these animals and how to apply those shapes to sculpting in a bas-relief or low-relief style on a base bead. Students will also learn how to make complex canes and how to apply those to mimic “quills, scales and feathers”. A Giraffe will be taught to teach the students how to apply a coat pattern and how to create realistic wrinkles and hair texture. Students will also learn how to use specialty tools and scalpels to facilitate and ease sculpting in a low-relief style as well as in 3-D. Some photo and diagram reference will be provided to the students to better illustrate shape, anatomy and composition breakdown.
