Zoom Intro to Stained Glass

One Day Only: Jan 31, 2025

Where: Delphi's Lansing Creativity Center

When: 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

In this live online Zoom class Roy will show you the basics of stained glass using the copper foil or "Tiffany" method. Follow along as he gives you an introduction to the time honored craft of stained glass while he creates a heart shaped suncatcher. Get your stained glass questions answered during this 2 1/2 hour live class presentation.
Demonstrations will include glass cutting, fitting and shaping the pieces, working with a pattern, using copper foil, soldering and cleaning up. Topics will include the proper tools to use, what type of materials are best, and safety practices.
Students will need to register with Zoom prior to class.
Students will be emailed a link to the class a few hours before class time on the day of the class. Students will be allowed to enter the virtual classroom 15 minutes before the class start time.

All class times are Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Pros : A great refresher course. Roy had several tips on making the whole process smoother.

Cons : Wish that the video would be available for a longer period of time.

Intro to Stained Glass

Pros : expert instructor; clear demonstrations throughout; openness to questions; lots of tips

Cons : The camera angles on a few of the demos were difficult to see what the instructor was doing. The color of the glass for the project was too dark to see marking and scoring.

Other Thoughts : I understand that we will receive the video of this class which we can view for only ten days. This makes it difficult if we want to work on a project outside that time limit. Why can't it be at least 30 days?

Great class

Pros : The instructor, Roy, was engaging and the almost 3 hours went by fast. It was interactive, and students could ask questions via the online chat and all questions were answered by Roy. This Zoom Intro to Glass class was very informative and exactly what I needed. I learned a lot. I wouldn't hesitate to sign up for more Zoom classes. I wish I lived closer!

Cons : Can't think of any!

Other Thoughts : This was my first introduction to the hand cut stain glass process and it was very interesting. I plan on getting involved with this hobby very soon!
