I like the fact that it is a cup, insures glass cannot come off easily. It does seem a bit better made.

Cons
It is a bit larger thus uses more glass. If the glass isn't close to exact it looks stupid if it's too small and you have to grind it if its too big.

really can't give any pro's.

I am experienced glass fuser and tried this little kiln and was very disappointed. I knew it wouldn't fuse as well, but I have NEVER experienced thermal shock until I used this kiln. I called the company that makes it and they told me to only use thier glass or at least don't mix with another brand and that dichroic, red and green glass are more likely to cause problems than other glass. Also, low and slow is the best way to fire, don't just put it in and run it at full until you know what the kiln/glass will do. This would have been good to know, they need to update the manual. I'm sure this is a fine unit for the occasional fuser, but don't expect any masterpieces to come from it.

Back to the drawing board.
