Aanraku Frit Piston
The pipe within a pipe keeps the blade positioned well. Unlike other frit makers this one concentrated the force on a blade allowing glass to be ground easier.
The piston acts like a pump blowing fine glass dust up toward your face. I removed the handle from the piston and attached a Floor flange and a length of pipe. Now I use it like a butter churn. This greatly improves the grinding action and gets the clouds of dust away from your face. I also sand blasted all the paint off the piston and chamber but still get some iron filings.
I also recommend you take a file to the handles since mine had Sharpe burs that could cut my hands
