Pros
A must-have for serious glass cutters as it allows for intricate cuts otherwise impossible. Ample table space allows for larger cuts, and the wire, coated on all sides, allows for multiple direction approaches and longer life.
Cons
Parts are made of plastic and wear out easily. It is not easy to change the blade. Our allen screw stripped out and had to be replaced. The blade guides wear easily, so my husband had one fabricated out of brass (don't do this if you don't know what you're doing) and we solved that problem. Motor is noisy, and water is directed on the blade only if you cut straight on. Side or rear cuts often pull the blade away from the water flow. Finger guide is supposed to save fingers, but the blade is so gentle, I prefer it if it weren't there. My finger protector suffered plastic fatigue and wore out, and my husband is fabricating me a smaller hose holder allowing for closer cutting with multiple direction holes cut into it. Last complaint isn't their fault: water shoots on glass and pours on floor. I have stuck mine in a plastic shallow bin to avoid this mess.
Other Thoughts
Through my cons, you might think I don't like or appreciate this tool. Quite the contrary; Gryphon has an excellent base idea which needs tweaking. If mine ever breaks, I will buy another one. If you're a hack and just plan on doing simple geographical designs, this tool is not for you. If you really want to create something more elaborate, this machine should be on your wish list.
