Stained Glass Spinner Class Details

Stained Glass Spinner

One Day Only: 

Where:  Delphi's Lansing Creativity Center

When:  12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Put a spin on traditional stained glass with this five hour class. Construct a colorful wind catcher that spins and sparkles in the sunlight.  Students are given creative freedom with choice of glass colors, spinner pattern, and size. Fundamental instruction like cutting glass, foiling, and soldering will be covered along with how to approach and complete a 3-D spinning panel.

Some stained glass or glass cutting experience is recommended, but not required.

Safety: Not to fear, glass is safe, however we do have a few safety procedures to ensure this.
Closed toed shoes are recommended when cutting ot handling glass. Safety glasses should be worn during class, unless you already wear glasses. Safety glasses will be provided if necessary. It is not recommended to work with solder or lead if you are pregnant. Please consult your doctor.

All materials are included in class, along with the use of our tools.
Participants may want to bring pen/ paper for notes.

Pros : Daisy was helpful. Diagrams was helpful.
Cons : Not enough glass cut, need more color options ready for the class. Maybe having more than 1 area to choose your glass. It was crowded and by the time I was able to pick out the glass I wanted, it was picked over.
Other Thoughts : Chairs were a bit uncomfortable

Pros : Daisy presented a class that was approachable for those at all levels of stained glass experience! She was thorough at explaining each step of the process. The final result was stunning!
Cons : The options of glass strips were somewhat lacking. It was difficult to find matching pieces that were off the correct width and length.
Other Thoughts : There were several specific tools that were used to complete this project. It would be helpful if other options were presented as an option other than purchasing so many things.

Pros : My class was with Daisy. This was I believe the third class, and the first time they offered more than one pattern. I tried the harder one first, but I was able to switch to the easier one after I had some difficulties. Daisy was super easy to work with and very informative. She was also helpful when I had some mistakes that I needed help fixing. Overall a great experience with a beautiful project to take home at the end
Cons : My only complaint is I wish there was some chain provided to hang my spinner at home

Pros : Awesome class. Well organized. My class was taught by Daisy. She instructed us on the various tools that we would be using, showed us examples, explained the printed directions, and some colors of glass were ready for us to use. The directions included a pattern to work with. There were 7 in the class and our experiences were of different levels. Daisy worked well with each of us. She worked with each of us until projects were finished.
Cons : Make class longer. Maybe 12 until 6.

Pros : I had never done any stained glass work at all prior to taking the class, but I felt right at home and comfortable all the way through. The instructor was not just knowledgeable and supportive, but was also always readily at hand, even as everyone's individual rates-of-progress increasingly separated us across various steps of the construction process in the later hours. Ended up with a fun, colorful keepsake that will not only remind me of this initial experience, but will also forever represent the first steps towards larger ambitions in this craft.

Pros : I'm very pleased with my spinner. Am thinking about taking another class. Instructor explained everything very well and everyone understood her instructions. There were plenty of supplies for everyone to get the colors they wanted.
Cons : Can't think of anything I was disappointed in. :}

Pros : Daisy was our instructor and she was fabulous! I really like how the class size was small - only 6 students. Half of us had some experience in working with stained glass while half did not, but it was awesome as everyone was quick to learn! Highly recommend and I’m looking forward to when I can take another class at Delphi!
Cons : None! Just had to drive home at the start of some major snow (drove in from Grand Rapids)!
Other Thoughts : Fun class and everyone back at home was impressed with my creation!
