  •   smoke be gone!
By on
Pros : Takes the smoke away much faster then most. Filter is easy to change.
Cons : Needs to be very close to project of on arm that is sold separate.
Other Thoughts : I love this! It keeps my breathing area clear. I would rather have it on the arm but couldn't afford that at this time. Why they aren't sold together I'll never know. But for someone with respiratory issues this is a life saver! Highly recommend over all the others out there!

  •   Seems to work fine
By on
Pros : Seems to extract all the fumes as I cannot see or smell them anymore when I solder.
Cons : Without the arm (see below for other thoughts) this would have to be repositioned frequently on large panels to get the full benefit.
Other Thoughts : My review is based on having the absorber and the arm (which is a separate purchase.) I don't think it would work as well without it. With the arm I am able to position this over my panel. Without the arm, I would need to move the extractor around a lot to get it to work as well.

  •   Good investment
By on
Pros : It saves your lungs. A fume absorber is a necessity. The Hakko has the excellent option of two positions: standing for broad fume collection or lying down to concentrate the power. The Hakko is the right tool for me at this time when I am no longer a beginner but far from dedicated mass production.
Cons : It requires re-positioning as you work because it is not powerful enough to function across a couple of feet of work. The arm is a separate substantial investment that I have not made.
Other Thoughts : I find I always use the absorber lying down to get the most concentrated power out of it.
