Bio

Since receiving my MFA in glass sculpture from Mass College of Art, I've been working in glass in one form or another. At first, I was all about hot glass and glass blowing. During grad school, I explored kiln cast glass. I was awarded a fellowship at the Creative Glass Center (Wheaton Glass) and had the opportunity to dig even deeper into the potentials of sculpting with glass. I'm intrigued by the many transformations glass can undergo making it a remarkably versatile sculpting medium. It plays well with others and does beautifully on its own. I've been creating and showing cast glass sculptures for over 20 years. I never planned to teach art, but when the head of a school in Charleston, SC asked me to start a 3D art program, I said OK. That was 16 years ago. My students work in everything and anything, including glass. The emphasis of my program is on the process of being a creative thinker. Encouraging students to engage in the creative process of art-making while also continuing my own practice of making and exhibiting keeps my creativity alive 24/7.
