Bio

June F. Bennett. From my earliest memories I have been captivated by all forms of glass. Born and raised in the UK my life was surrounded by historical castles and cathedrals, and as a child I enjoyed these ancient architectural structures and absorbed the beauty of their stained glass windows. This is where my passion for glass art was born. My first “hands on” experience came later in life after coming to the USA in 1972 . I took classes at Studios in Indiana where I was living at that time. The next step was the introduction of fused glass and I knew I had to try it. I took my first fused glass class at Delphi Glass in Michigan many years ago when they first introduced the class. Once I started bending and manipulating the glass into shapes I was hooked. As my skill level increased so did my desire to learn more. My continuing education has taken me to North Carolina, Portland OR. also The University of Miami, Fl. Cape Coral Fl. Pennsylvania, Michigan and Indiana. I continue to look for inspiration to create new and exciting work. Now as an award winning artist my work can been seen at many juried exhibitions and galleries in Southwest Florida. It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to share my knowledge with others as I have become an instructor and have been teaching fused glass for the past four years.
