Bio

Marcia Barnes has worked in many mediums, but best loves the versatility of working with fused & dichroic glass. It has a chameleon quality to it that no other glass exhibits. Whether she is making jewelry or creating a scene on a hanging tile, it is never tiresome. She is one of the few artists in this medium to push the glass envelope & use it as a canvas. An image is hand etched on the dichroic glass before firing, which produces a tiny drawing directly on the glass. Each one is a unique work of art made individually & not mass produced. After firing & shaping, the jewelry is wire wrapped in sterling silver or gold filled wire. Each one is a piece of wearable art designed to bring joy to the person who purchased it.
