Bio

Born in Charleston, SC, lived and worked for many years in the city of Chattanooga, TN and currently living in Northwest Georgia at the foot of Lookout Mountain on a small farm, my name is Sherry Collins Hogan. I am a full time professional artist. Essentially, I am self-taught by studying the works of many artists and reading extensively about techniques and materials. I have tried out many mediums of art over the years and still work in many but lately mosaics have been my focus of choice. My artistic endeavors are driven by my passion for the spirit of the horse, the innocents of a child's face, the curve, and motion of a woman's body, and the sights and sounds of the ocean, mountains, trees. Most things that portray a life and appreciation of natural living and getting back in touch with mother earth are what you will see in my paintings and mosaics. My family and shop was in the city for several years until we decided we needed something different. We up and moved family and business out to the country, seven acres, a 100-year-old farmhouse, and a very old sad barn. My husband and I are restoring the old farmhouse and barn. The studio gets its name from the big old barn where it is located now. I know this is a bit unconventional working in the loft of an old barn, but it makes me happy. I can look out the windows all through the day and see my horses and chickens anytime I need a stretch, or walk out to the garden to gather a flower to add to a painting or mosaic design. This is the way to work and live for me! In closing my bio I will just say it will be a privilege to share my work with you!
