I started working with stained glass this year and enjoy the process of design to finished piece. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a project you have worked long on held up to the sunlight for the very first time; the coloring is almost magically changed and makes the piece come to life.

Pros
It is consistent, very light weight construction so it makes it very easy to move. I use it for just about everything from slumping to firing hand painted glass. It is well worth it!

Pros
I have been using this solder for nearly 4 years now and I do like the results. It solidifies very quickly which comes in very handy for tack fusing and use on 3D objects. One tip for using this is to get a temperature control for your soldering iron; I currently use a Hakko with a Mika temperature control to adjust the solder to its sweet spot. I find by setting the temperature control to 80-85% the solder flows well without any issues. Be sure to do frequent cleanings of the soldering iron tip with a cleaning block and you will find this solder works just fine.

I would highly recommend this product; just make sure to use higher temperature settings on your temperature control, than you are used to from lead based solder and it will work fine.

Warning Produces CO in Kiln, May 2, 2011 2 stars

Pros
Sturdy easy to cut and light weight.

Cons
Produces Carbon Monoxoide when fired in a kiln. It set off my CO detector once it got over 1100 degrees.

Other Thoughts
This should come with a warning on it that when it is fired in a kiln it produces dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide.

Has a bright vibrant color in the sunlight a very nice textured finish and easy to cut.

I ordered 5 sheets and they all came very consistent which makes the project that much better.

24" x 24" x 1/2" Homasote Board

Pros
I have used a Homosote board for all of my stained glass projects. It is light weight yet sturdy, it is the perfect item for pinning down your work for layout or soldering. I also pin my Sal Ammoniac block to the board so it won’t slide around while I clean my soldering iron tip. The Homosote board also has the ability to “Self Heal’ older holes so it can be used over and over.

Wish they came in larger sizes such as 3' x 2'

Worth buying - don't do a stained glass project without one!

16 Gauge Black Jack Chain - 50 Ft. Roll

Pros
This chain is very strong; it is currently holding a 22" by 12" stained glass piece without a problem. The color matches the black patina in the solder lines perfectly. This picture does not do it justice it has a silvery black sheen to it. It is well worth the buy.

I will use this chain for many more projects it matches the black patina perfectly.
