Hidden Glass Studio's Profile

Bio

When I was growing up, my creative Mom tried desperately to find my artistic side and my creative niche. Mom’s mission was to take my sister and me to as many creative classes as she could find. There was ice skating, oil painting, piano lessons, sewing, cooking, needlework, ceramics, etc. Each class I would do as told, just to be done with it. I checked it off my imaginary list, while Mom was rolling her eyes and throwing up her hands in exasperation already planning my next art exposure. Meantime, my sister found her niche as a well renowned quilter. Then in my late 20s, my hidden talents finally bloomed and I started painting, needlework, doing stained glass, sewing and designing. Mom would say, “Who did this? YOU did this!? WHEN did you learn this? It’s beautiful” (all said in disbelief). My response was always, “Oh, just One of my many Hidden Talents.” So here I am taking my creative skills and applying it to stained glass pieces that encompass my interest of natural elements of nature through flowers, stones, gems, minerals, while recycling, reusing old items often discarded. Including these various elements into my glass art gives that certain spirit of appreciation to those that pause and view it or buy it. Those that stop and comment on my designs at shows have given me the ultimate compliment and I know that I have achieved my goal. I pay special attention to the glass selection, the cutting, wrapping, and soldering. When my inspired vision comes to fruition in glass, I often hear my mother’s words repeating… “Who did this? YOU did this!? I can’t believe you did this. When did you learn to do this? It’s beautiful!” (all said in disbelief) and I just smile…………
