Bio

Matt Takacs Artist Bio Matt Takacs was born in London, Ohio where he currently resides. He is a graduate of London High School and is pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Glass at The Ohio State University. There, he is establishing a versatile knowledge base working with glass in various ways. His work incorporates techniques from Kiln Cast glass, Flame worked glass as well as Blown and sculptural hot glass. Inspiration for his work often comes from natural objects and organic forms, like animals, plants, and insects. An interest in history also fuels and influences Matt’s ideas. Cartoon characters and classic television shows provide him with other inspirations like creating characters with expressive personalities and small scenes or diorama’s. Designing and making biospheres, terrariums for plants and garden decorations bring in his enjoyment of indoor and outdoor plants and growth patterns/controlling growth patterns. The color schemes he chooses are often complimentary colors providing a contrast and balance. The balancing of opposites like textures, shapes, colors and sizes are present in much of the artwork created by Matt. He continues to use bright colors and is beginning to incorporate patterns through various color applications to his work.
