Bio

Julie (Jooj) Hooker is an award winning, self-taught artist originally from Paw Paw, Michigan. In 1995, Jooj began her career as a scenic artist in Los Angeles, California, where she collaborated with designers in the creation of sets for film and special events. After several successful years in California, Jooj decided to expand her artistic skills by taking on new challenges. In 1999, Jooj settled into the beautiful mountain town of Prescott, Arizona where she crafted a successful career creating custom wall finishes, and specialized in murals for residential and commercial clients. In addition to being commissioned for her talent nationwide, Jooj's work has been published in several design magazines in Arizona, and has had her work featured on television in Prescott, Arizona and Washington, DC. In 2009, Jooj began to explore stained glass as her primary medium of expression. Jooj exhibited her stained glass art at the Las Vegas Glass Exposition in 2009 and won awards for her unique stained glass mosaics. Jooj is currently residing in Prescott, Arizona, where she creates custom art commissions for clients throughout the country. Jooj’s mission as an artist today is to revitalize the way in which stained glass is perceived in the art world. “Stained glass emulates so much beauty and provokes such deep feelings for me as an artist. I feel so honored to be working in a medium that seems to speak so clearly to my heart. It is light itself, held together in time that has the ability to speak to the generations of humanity to come. I want to share the connection that stained glass illuminates in my own soul and bring that light forth into the hearts of those my art touches.
