GLASS WITH METAL - JEWELRY AND SCULPTURE
GLASS WITH PAINTING - THREE DIMENSIONAL SCENES
My interested in art originated in early grade school where I was exposed to painting, drawing and design in art class and have continued to follow that interest.
While visiting Mexico in the early 1950s, I was intrigued by the art of the local glass blowers and by the flexibility, color and energy of the medium. A few years later I began classes in glass blowing and stained glass and I have continued to work with and explore the potential of the medium.
My jewelry and sculpture technique has evolved around an interest in using glass with metal. Combinations of copper, brass, silver and gold with fused glass jewels that I have pre-made, (and or) cold glass parts are used to fabricate my pieces.
For my three dimensional scenes, I use a variety of techniques to form layers of glass that are set in place over an acrylic (and or) oil painted on canvas backgrounds to create the finished piece. I am inspired in all of my work by nature, life experiences and observations.
