Bio

Lisa Anderson is a self-taught mosaic artist specializing is glass on glass mosaics and mixed media guitars and other items. Her unique mosaic designs are crafted using only straight glass cutters and nippers. Lisa's love of mosaics began at an early age as she watched her father create a mosaic image of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden using pieces of crushed colored glass. Her father was also her inspiration for her use of words in glass as she watched her sign painter father create advertising signs by hand before the age of computer graphics. The smell of paint invokes images of creativity and from drawing to painting to mosaics, Lisa has honed her craft in a style recognizable throughout the Houston, Texas art world. Drawing from the Texas landscape and colorful characterizations of the south Texas music scene, Lisa re-purposes old, broken guitars and vintage jewelry, seed beads, glass, dishes as well as belt buckles and old spurs and even nails in her classic guitar designs.
