Bio

Born in England, where I studied engineering and technical illustration, including photo retouching and airbrushing (a great help when using the sandblaster), a few years later the opportunity to learn glasswork under Steven Brathwaite in Canada and sand blasting with the late Norm Dobbins, Santa Fé NM. presented itself. I moved to Brazil . . to Corumbá, in Mato Grosso do Sul (Capital of the "Pantanal") where I worked for an NGO, "Moinho Cultural", producing "Ladrilhos Hidráulicos" a type of traditional decorated floor tile utilizing processes over 100 years old, while at the same time together with our environmental department developed a course utilizing recycled glass to be taught to lower income riverside dwellers, however severe restrictions with electricity supply eventually killed the project. I am now living in Ijui, (a medium sized Brazilizn town) in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. I have built by own studio where I work producing glass objects both decorative and practical utilizing recycled flat glass and bottles. Also will be offering sandblasting for room dividers, home illumination, commemorative items etc. Importing glass for stained glass windows etc. is extremely expensive, however it is a service I offer. My background is illustration, motor sports photography, computer animations and tourist guide in the Brazilian Pantanal, I have work, albeit small, in UK, Canada, US, Venezuela, São Tomé in the Carribean and Brazil. My studio is open for commercial work, teaching classes on basic recycling art and hopefully negociate with our local council via the environment secretary, ways to finance and subsidize students through art and ambiental issues (recycling glass) and social-economico (supplementary income).
