Bio

Artist, award-winning author and columnist for The Western Edition of The Southampton Press, Maria Daddino is passionate about nature, wildlife and her East End garden … and that deep passion is expressed in her stained glass art, as well as in her writing. In her multiple-award-winning book “Maria’s Duck Tales: Wildlife Stories From My Garden,” she shares the poignant stories of her garden’s many feathered and furry “wild-friends.” Together with local East End wildlife organizations, Daddino hosts programs in her garden encouraging everyone to plant native, to provide natural habitat for wildlife and to avoid using chemicals. Daddino is a self-taught artist, whose inspiration is nature. Its nuances, textures, hues and moods are transposed into her original glass designs. “From the moment I first saw a Tiffany glass creation, I was in love.” she reflects, “I stared transfixed as the light danced through the soft pinks and greens of that Tiffany Dogwood Lamp. Forty years later I can easily recall the excitement of discovering such astonishing beauty.” ‘Simpatico’ is the word she uses to describe the way she feels about her sheets of richly colored, uniquely textured and eclectic glass. Acquired over many years, each piece in her glass collection was chosen to reflect her love of nature with colors that mirror the wildlife and wildflowers that surround her. In the spring of 2015, Daddino had a solo exhibition at the Rosalie Dimon Gallery in Jamesport, sponsored by East End Arts. In the summer of 2014, her four-hundred-piece mermaid, “Arianna Waits” was exhibited at “Clothing Optional,” an invitational show held at The Remsenburg Academy. And in the fall of 2014, “Arianna Waits” was on display at WPPB’s Media Mavens Mixed Media Juried Art Show in Sag Harbor. Daddino’s panels have also been on display in many East End Arts exhibits.
