Dax Bead Art's Profile
Bio
Like us, beads come in all colours shapes and sizes. When beads are combined with traditional and contemporary beading stitches from diverse cultures the infinite diversity of possibilities they offer for creating beautiful and unique handcrafted, one-of-a-kind objects in our world has captivated me.
I am captivated by creating glasswork that wows with difference, plays with pattern, calls with colour, sings a story or sparkles with bling. I am captivated by the lines of flight that playing with beads allows me and by the deep connections to beaders past and present, near and far that it offers. My patterns and tutorials are my way of keeping those connections alive and growing new ones.
Women in diverse cultures have long used shape, pattern and colour in beadwork as a language to talk about things of significance to them and to their culture. Like them I design and make wearable beadart and patterns that can talk about things of significance to me - social justice, respect for diversity and creating a more eco-friendly world.
