Gulf Coast Glassworks's Profile
Bio
Tammy studied the craft of glassworks in New Orleans. She designs, constructs, and installs custom and ready made stained glass products that are within the architectural, functional, and ornamental realms. She hand cuts all of her glass by using simple hand tools and then constructs her final pieces using centuries old methods mixed with modern technology.
She is competent in both copper foil and lead caming techniques. While she leaves some of her lead work in its natural state, she apples either copper or black patina to other pieces. Some of her work is designed to be frameless. For others she constructs frames from either metal or wood. However, her favorite frames to work with are old wooden windows and sashes salvaged from the New Orleans area. She carefully selects each piece and then works to breathe new life into it before using it to frame her original artwork. She strives to make each frame as unique as the artwork itself.
