I've made a stained glass panel using this design, as well! Like yours, mine is an abridged version of the design from the book (since that original version would have been far too large and complicated). It has been my most challenging and rewarding piece, to date, as well. Your version turned out beautifully! I used a light blue artique glass for my background, but I think the wispy background glass that you used was a great choice.
