Glittering Glass's Profile
Bio
I once had a Pilates trainer who turned on classical Baroque music during our sessions. When I asked her why she did this, she said, “because your body works better with this music.” She was right. I love nearly all artistic undertakings, but in any form, the arts that “speak to me” and that I like to create either make me smile or calm and soothe me.
Glass is my preferred medium. I love the look, the feel, the sound of it. It can create lyrical musical tones or the bone-chilling reverberations of shattering. It can be cool and smooth to the touch, or it can stab and slice. For me, glass is like captured bits of the ocean — transparent, reflective, opaque, translucent, turbid, tranquil, and sometimes dangerous. Like the ocean, it can be nearly any color of the spectrum and awaken a mood to match.
To express my respect and appreciation for our oceans, marine life and ecosystems, I incorporate something responsibly sourced from the sea into most of my pieces. However, I claim no deep philosophy or ontology for what I do. Creating something of beauty or humor (or both) in glass simply is a personal pleasure, made deeper by sharing it.
