Bio

As a child, I loved to draw, paint and sculpt. My father, a portrait artist, was my mentor and toughest critic. He built me an easel and purchased art supplies for my use; he taught me every medium and technique that he knew even before I started grade school; and he continued to coach me through to my teenage years. Following high school, I attended California State University – Northridge as a fine arts major. I wanted to be an animated cartoonist and work for Hanna-Barbera Productions. After 2 years of college, I opted to quit schooling and get married, receiving only my “MRS” degree, rather than a Bachelor of Arts degree! Being a stay-at-home mom raising 3 rambunctious boys allowed me to continue my artwork – volunteering for art projects in schools, teaching art classes at night, selling my work in craft shows, and joining many art and artisan groups. In 1985, I added stained glass and mosaics to my passion for the arts. So, I am a fine artist, a cartoonist, and a glass artisan. Recently, I purchased a glass kiln! So, I’ve added fusing artistry to my hobbies. My art studio, The White Rose, is a converted tool shed overlooking Sylvan Lake where I live in Rome City, Indiana. I create artwork for my own enjoyment, and for family and friends. Rarely do I sell my work now; but on occasion, I will do paintings and glass projects on consignment.
